About the Artist
Owner and Operator of M1 Interactive, is a pioneer in the concept, design and execution of visual art and motion graphics design for live events and marketing communications. For over fifteen years, Dressel has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary capacity to understand and implement convergent disciplines including multimedia design, live
action, VJing and directing live events.
M1 Interactive is Brian Dressel’s second company. His first company, OVT Visuals was a leader in video presentation production, set design and show control and more for the past 15 years. They became icons in the VJ field and have many diehard fans. Dressel chose to move on, venturing into new markets.
He has worked almost non-stop, toward his goal of developing Respondr and the Ring Screen to take it to market. Some of his new technology was featured at the 2007 Superbowl and the 2008 Las Vegas Auto Show for the Ford concept car display. He has attracted such diverse clientele as E! Entertainment, Tommy Lee, Oracle, DJ Tiesto and Coca-Cola and Ford Motor Company. Dressel worked closely with Tommy Lee and Motley Crue to design his animation for his website and press kit and is currently creating video content for his new DJ/VJ 2007-08 world tour. Dressel's work is published in several books, such as 'Motion Graphics Film+TV' and 'Macworld DVD Studio Pro Bible'. He is a featured artist in the new VJ book, 'vE-jA' and is highlighted as a video technologist in the book 'HDV Filmmaking' and the 'Annual Adobe After Effects Motion Graphics Reel' featuring Brian's work as a motion graphics animator. He has also been featured in many magazine and internet interviews for his take on the current state of interactive technologies.
About the Project
Respondr is a reactive, interactive video display system that creates high-impact branding and immersive multimedia experiences through audience participation and physical interaction. This cutting edge technology engages consumers through responsive interactivity, opening the door for creative branding and immersive environments.
The audience, individually or en masse, encounters a video projection display on a wall, floor or table/bar surface. As you move your body over the display, the Respondr tracking system tracks your motion and turns it into data that the Respondr graphic engine can work with. Your movements control the elements you see on screen. Depending on the content created for it, Respondr can be used as an entertainment or informational/educational device. Some of the features of Respondr are:
• Internet capable control, so systems can be operated from a remote location and updated remotely, quicker and easier.
• Ability to use projector displays or large LCD video screen, no size limit.
• Network connectable, so many units can talk to each other for larger displays.
• Control panel GUI is user friendly and easy to use.
• Time of day scheduler. Uses spreadsheet style programming, to change effect and content at any time of day, for weeks or months at a time.
• Switchable relative time scheduler to change effects as fast at every 30 seconds or hold them for hours or days at a time.
• Digital Signage applications with ability to display commercials or other standard video included as part of the playlist schedule.
• Ability to count how many people use the system per hour, and what content was used at that time. This gives us the power to tell advertisers how effective certain types of content were and what times are best to display it. Dynamic data feedback monitoring is essential
for large advertising firms.
Light Scribble is our newest product. Light Scribble gives the ability to write personal messaging or virtual graffiti anywhere, on walls, entire buildings, bridges, you name it. Light Scribble can be installed almost anywhere. It uses a Wiimote as the painting/writing device.
Our optional database application allows gathering of important user info, while automatically capturing a still of the projected image for future viewing. Images are uploaded to our Light Scribble Graffiti Wall, where the participants view the images taken at the event or find their image with a code given out at the event.
