THE MARCH 2008 SHOWCASE

 

Motion Graphics Festival, MGFest08 Intro.
An introduction to the 2008 Chicago Motion Graphics Festival, held in Chicago, featuring motion graphics!

 

Psymbolic + KiloWatts, microtakeover.
An exploration of the small vastness of life.

 

Alexander Stewart, Errata.
Created by photocopying copies of copies, Errata begins with a blank sheet of paper and each successive copy becomes a frame of animation.

 

Nick Campbell, Self Portrait.
Icons, text and a brain paint a portrait of the artist, looking at what motivates Creamyorange. That's him.

 

Dr. Spook + Deeper in Zen, GeoMagnetic.
Pulsating psychedelic beats complement gyrating electronic imagery. And vice versa.

 

Sean Capone, Supernature.
Three pieces created for projection at three events in New York, Toronto, and Texas, in black, white, and color.

 

Barry Doupe, At the Heart of the Sparrow.
Through a series of animated narratives, role reversals, and associations, images are driven out and stacked one on top another.

 

Chad Ashley, Somersault.
A beautiful and slick shape-shifting form continuously morphs, evoking fluidity and change.

 

 

Opening Reception

After five successful years in Chicago, mgFest expands to a second US city by premiering eight diverse motion graphic creations on Lumen Eclipse's video art kiosk in Harvard Square.

The opening reception for this month-long exhibit will be held at Middlesex Lounge in Central Square, Cambridge. The reception will feature the ( Design | Sound | Code ) screening and will transition into an interactive audio/visual showcase.

Bob Trahpek from Boston's own Sonic Beating and Zia-Trance will sonically navigate thru choice downtempo grooves while VJ Mason Dixon mixes video segments from the premier to the mood of the live music.
