MFchicago
is an open source brand used by a group of musicians, dj’s, music producers
and video artists who collaborate in an organic fashion on various projects,
including live music, video and art performances. MFchicago resulted from
a series of live electronic music improvisational street performances by
Byron Durham and Seth Gershberg during the summer of 2003, the idea being
that the street is the best venue for live improvisation because of the
freedom it affords the performers. Live street performance also turned out
to be a magnet for attracting like-minded musicians and artists. MFChicago
has now grown from two to over two dozen regular participants.
